Superstorm Sandy Creates Serious Mold Problem

Months after the super storm, Sandy, slammed into the East Coast, homeowners are still dealing with the aftereffects of the rain and water damage that has occurred. Simply repairing broken windows, rooftops, and other damages from the wind is not the answer for many citizens who were affected by the storm. Frozen Tahoe Weather Leads to Casino Water Damage

Freezing weather in Northern California’s Sierra Nevada region has resulted in frozen pipes and water damage for numerous residents and businesses. Temperatures below zero surprised the area, which is usually well-prepared for cold weather at their property. But the overwhelmingly cold record low temperatures were too much for even the prepared. One business impacted by these record cold temperatures has been the Stateline Nevada casinos. Harrah’s casino had a pipe freeze overnight on January 14. Water gushed into various parts of the casino including the gaming floor and stores. Several parts of the casino were soaked including hallways and floors. Tenant in Stockton Evicted After Complaints About Indoor Mold Problem

Martha Mason is a renter in Stockton who had a major mold problem inside her home. Water leaking slowly under her carpet turned into a huge mold contamination that produced everything from fuzzy black mold colonies to mushrooms. She complained to the landlord about the problems at the property. The landlord had someone come by to examine the source of the leak that caused the mold problem, but nothing further was done. Both Martha and her daughter were getting sick from the mold spores that filled the air in her home. Mold, Water Damage Forces License Suspension for Burnsville Apartment Complex

(Burnsville, MN | 10-20-2011) Residents of the Country Village Apartments have been living in squalor for months, prompting the city to suspend the rental license of the complex. Numerous complaints about mold, water damage, pest infestations, and leaky plumbing, among numerous other code violations, were reported by residents to city inspectors over the past year. After the owners of the complex failed to address the code violations, the Burnsville City Council suspended Country Village’s license, meaning that the owners can no longer rent units to new tenants. Black Mold Shuts Down Roseville DMV Office

On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, the Roseville Department of Motor Vehicles office was unexpectedly closed after testing determined that there was an infestation of black mold growing inside the building. The closure happened abruptly at 1:30 PM, after which customers were greeted with a sign on the front door directing them to try other DMV offices in Rocklin, Folsom, and Carmichael. Reports indicated that the Roseville DMV office would contact people who had appointments to notify them of the closure and rearrange for a different day to conduct their business.
