Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspection

Infrared thermal imaging surveys that utilize specialized infrared equipment have proven to be an exceptional tool for rapidly and reliably providing inspectors and their clients with an accurate diagnosis for a wide range of problems.

Infrared is a range of electromagnetic waves that exist just beyond the visible range of the light spectrum (beyond the red end of the spectrum). An infrared wavelength is longer than visible light, but shorter than radio waves. Infrared photography involves the use of a high-tech infrared camera that broadcasts infrared light that it then detects and processes into an image that shows variations in the infrared spectrum. The image is recorded onto an infrared calibrated digital camera. Any variations in the spectrum are analyzed by the inspector and other specialists to determine if potential water damage, mold growth or other problems exist in hidden areas around the property.

Examples of what an infrared inspection can detect:

  • Structural damage following a fire or flood
  • Moisture intrusion hiding within a wall, floor or ceiling area
  • Water damage from a slow leaking or broken pipe or roof or window leak
  • Moisture that could signify mold contamination
  • Structural defects from poor construction, defective material or wear over time
  • A variety of other issues...
